Risk Management:
Risk management aims to achieve strategic objectives, prevent various types of risks, and stop them from occurring. It also focuses on activating monitoring systems, early warning, and prediction mechanisms to protect lives and property. This is done through:
- Identifying and defining risks.
- Classifying risks.
- Assessing current and potential risks in all university buildings.
- Developing risk management plans, implementing them, and monitoring their progress.
- Forecasting potential risks and establishing solutions and steps to prevent their occurrence.
- Creating an action plan for responding to any risks that occur, aimed at minimizing losses and ensuring minimal impact on the implementation of strategic or operational plans.
- Promoting a culture of risk management among employees.
- Implementing a performance indicator system to facilitate the accurate collection of information related to the achievement rates and monitoring of strategic and operational plan performance.
The risk management policy is based on four key elements:
- Prevention of risks by striving to avoid their occurrence in the future, across various types, through the application of best practices, procedures, and policies.
- Promoting a culture of risk management among employees.
- Effectively managing risks when they occur to minimize their negative impact.
- Identifying the relevant parties responsible for activating and monitoring the internal control system, making it more flexible and effective in predicting risks before they occur. This includes determining preventive, proactive, or corrective actions for risks and enabling early warning when incidents happen.
This can be achieved through the following:
- Conducting a risk assessment for all existing hazards (such as electrical risks and fire hazards).
Establishing a documentation system for procedures to follow in the event of a risk (God forbid), notifying the relevant authorities, conducting incident investigations, and documenting reporting procedures. These should be reviewed regularly to analyze and use them for developing preventive measures and avoiding recurrence. - Establishing an archiving system to ensure that procedures are easily accessible to the university administration and any entity responsible for the maintenance and operation of early warning and fire protection systems in the future.
- Ensuring that all parties comply with the issued directives or instructions related to risk management.
- Monitoring and identifying violations that could lead to potential risks, while developing an internal violation system within the university to reduce the likelihood of errors occurring.
- Continuous updates, staying current, and keeping track of developments in risk management. This includes following relevant authorities and applying best practices in the field.
